Woman arrested after robbery of disabled man

POLICE have arrested a 20-year-old woman who allegedly robbed a mute, hearing-impaired man at the Woden Bus Interchange yesterday afternoon.

Police allege that around 1.37pm the offender approached the 46-year-old Kambah man, who feared for his safety and handed over a sum of cash.

The victim communicates through sign language.

An anonymous witness saw the incident and contacted police, and an alert was issued on the alleged offender.

Police officers attending the ACT Magistrates Court this morning recognised the alleged offender. She was later arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where she was charged with threatening to kill or inflict grievous bodily harm.

Police will oppose bail.
