BUCKING a national trend, viewers in Canberra put WIN’s “The Block” well ahead of PRIME’s “My Kitchen Rules” in last week’s television ratings.
While the Seven network cleaned up nine of the top ten places nationally, WIN claimed eight of the top ten slots in Canberra.
The ABC scored with perpetual favourite Kevin McLeod and yet another repeat of cop series “New Tricks”.
Just outside the top twenty, Auntie’s new local drama series “The Dr Blake Mysteries” is drawing audiences of around 25,400, well ahead of PRIME’s “Downton Abbey” which, with 21,500, was well down from the previous week’s 34,838.
Meanwhile, TEN still struggles to get traction. Their best performer last week was “NCIS Los Angeles” (number 21 with around 25,600 viewers), followed by a new episode of “The Simpsons” and classy detective series “Elementary”.
All the buzz in media circles is about the TEN network’s new CEO, former advertising hard man Hamish McLennan. Described by former (and now future) colleague Russel Howcroft as “relentless, tough and a winner”, it’s hoped McLennan will have what it takes to lift the network out of its ratings doldrums.
