$80k worth of heroin seized

A 50-year-old man has been charged after police found heroin worth about $80,000 while searching his home on Friday afternoon. 

At about 2.15pm police intercepted a vehicle on Coppins Crossing bridge in the ACT. They searched the car and seized a small amount of heroin along with approximately $6500 cash.

Later that afternoon members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team executed a further search warrant on a house in Flynn at around 5.15pm. A search of the premises located a quantity of heroin along with approximately $30 000 cash. A 50 year-old-man was taken into custody.

Police also executed another two search warrants on premises in Dunlop and Florey where other evidentiary material was seized.

Police estimate the heroin seized during the search warrants has a potential street value of approximately $80 000.

The alleged offender was taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with drug trafficking. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court where police will be opposing bail.
