AUSTRALIA’S ambassador to the United States, Kim Beazley, has sent his birthday wishes to Canberra via Youtube.
In the video, below, the former leader of the Australian Labor Party speaks fondly of the capital and reflects on the time he has spent here.
“It is one of my favourite places and the people in it are some of the people I love best,” Mr Beazley says in the video, referring to the “excitement” of visiting the capital over his lifetime as a student, politician and diplomat.
In his career Mr Beazley has been Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the Australian Labor Party and Leader of the Opposition. He has held the federal ministerial portfolios of Defence, Finance, Transport and Communications, Employment, Education and Training, Aviation, and Special Minister of State.
