Canberra robbery suspect caught at Gold Coast

ACT detectives brought a man back to Canberra from the Gold Coast yesterday to face charges of aggravated robbery, arson, theft and driving a vehicle without consent.

The charges faced by the 47-year-old man relate to two aggravated robberies from several years ago, at the Hackett IGA Supermarket in 2005, and at the O’Connor chemist in May 2007.

The extradition application was approved by the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday, and police escorted the man back to the ACT in the afternoon.

The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
