Celebrate Centenary ‘safely’

POLICE warn they will have a “highly visible presence” at Centenary celebrations this weekend. Police-afp-cops-0021-175x175

Superintendent Brett Kidner said ACT Policing will be working closely with event organisers and security to ensure the weekend is “trouble-free.”

“One of our priorities is to ensure that families attending Centenary Day celebrations will not be subjected to anti-social behaviour,” Superintendent Kidner said.

‘‘We encourage people to come along and enjoy the weekend of festivities but be warned public safety will be our main focus.’’

‘‘We’re asking people to be sensible, be responsible and look after each other. We don’t want what is meant to be an enjoyable long weekend spoilt by loutish behaviour.”

Police are also urging motorists to drive safely over the Centenary Day long weekend with extra patrols on the road.
