CRAFT ACT is turning on a festive event this evening at Craft and Design Centre called ‘Celebrate: the gift of design’ and asks the community to support artists and designers when purchasing their special gifts.
The idea is to showcase the talent in Canberra and across Australia, and to encourage Canberrans to be more familiar with the craft and design scene. The event will also launch Craft ACT’s retail shop at their pod space at Lonsdale St Traders in Braddon.
“We have such a vibrant and talented community of designers and artists in Canberra, many of whom have national acclaim in their practice,” says Craft ACT CEO Avi Amesbury, adding, “In fact, two of our stockists, Megan Jackson and Alison Jackson were awarded in the 2013 Australian Craft Awards in fashion and homewares respectively”.
Amesbury says, “The festive season is a time to give back, and celebrate, and that’s what we’re asking people to do with our special event ‘Celebrate: the gift of design’. Come join us at our pod space, have a drink, and raise a toast to our excellent designers and makers here in Canberra.”
‘Celebrate: the gift of design’ at Craft ACT’s pod space, Lonsdale St Traders, 27 Lonsdale St Braddon, 6pm, Wednesday, December 4, all welcome.
