AN unlicensed driver who tried to flee police after they caught him mid-burnout will face court.
About 1.30am this morning police saw a dark-coloured Holden Commodore ute perform a “prolonged burnout” at the roundabout intersection of Woodcock Drive and Knoke Avenue in Gordon.
Police activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the ute but the driver accelerated away on Woodcock Drive.
After about thirty seconds, the driver stopped the vehicle in a driveway and both the driver and his passenger fled on foot. Both men were taken into custody with the passenger released a short time later.
The driver was taken to the Tuggeranong Police Station where he returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.092.
As the holder of an expired licence he was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice.
The vehicle has been seized by police and the man will face court at a later date.
