Driver evades police, loses bumper

POLICE are on the lookout for a driver who led detectives on a high speed chase yesterday afternoon and hit another car in the process.

Police-car-0574-175x175Around 1.50pm, officers from Criminal Investigations were travelling north along Athllon Drive when they directed the driver of a blue Ford Telstar to pull over.

Police say the driver did not stop and ran into another car while driving through a red light at the intersection of Athllon Drive and Mawson Drive with the officers in pursuit.

The offender then fled the scene of the collision and traveled along Ainsworth Street where it lost its rear bumper.

Police say the car then went through a second red light at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Ainsworth Street and the pursuit was called off after about two and a half minutes, the cars having reached a top speed of 120 km/h.
