Driver flees after dumping stolen BMW

POLICE are searching for the driver of a stolen BMW, who fled after a pursuit in Scullin yesterday.

About 12.35 am, the silver BMW hatch was sighted by police at the intersection of Kingsford Smith Drive and Southern Cross Drive.

The driver fled through suburban Scullin streets for about 40 seconds,  reaching speeds of up to 100km/h, when police lost sight of it.

The car was later recovered by police in Ngunnawal, and has been seized for forensic analysis.

Police believe members of the public may have sighted the vehicle both before and after the short pursuit, and may have seen the offenders involved. Anyone who may be able to assist with the investigation should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
