Fashion with a smile

BENEDICT House in Queanbeyan will be the setting on Sunday for a fashion parade, salon style, with models draped in natural fibres for winter warmth.J and M

And here’s a change—“It is all about the models – grace and elegance that increases with age.”

The entire day, the organisers are saying, will be dominated by authentic leather, cashmere, wools, and beautiful handmade gloves – toned with elegance and simplicity.

Textures will range from Merino wool, Italian cashmere and Indian pashmina to French hosiery and Italian leather gloves. The accessories feature hand blown Murano glass on neoprene for a very contemporary, yet simple design.

The menu is still being planned by Kate Shelton and staff, but it’s bound to be tasty.

The models will definitely not be aged between 14-19, Size 0, tall or fabulously wealthy and they don’t have agencies or “portfolios.”

These models have had their training on rehearsal night at Benedict House. Sizes range from Petite to Plus and the age ranges is from 20 to 75. They are, Shelton says, women who love style and are allowed to smile.

What a wonderful way to spend an autumn afternoon, in the company of good food and wine, and some natural warm and stylish women.

Benedict House fashion parade and lunch, at 39 Isabella St, Queanbeyan, 12.30-3pm, April 21, bookings to 6284 2868, cost $40.
