AS THE 17th Canberra International Film Festival prepares to open tomorrow night at Dendy Cinemas, it throws open the #CIFFmini competition.The competition offers audience members at any of the 100 screenings at this year’s festival the chance to win free films for a year at Dendy Canberra if they tweet a 140‐ character review of a film they see using the #CIFFmini hashtag and keep their ticket. “It’s really the ultimate prize for any film lover and rivals any audience competition in Australia,” says festival director Lex Lindsay said.
The opening night film is “All Is Lost,” starring Robert Redford, is sold out, but a second screening of All is Lost still has some tickets available.
FridayNovember 1 marks the start of the festival’s “Conversations” program with a Q&A session with director Sophia Turkiewicz after the 6.30pm screening of her Australian documentary “Once My Mother.”
