MULTI-ARTS festival You Are Here will receive over $80,000 in funding from the ACT Government  for its 2014 event.

Originally commissioned in 2011 by the Centenary of Canberra to enliven the Canberra CBD; You Are Here has grown into a significant cultural event and a highlight of Canberra’s cultural calendar, says Arts Minister Joy Burch.

“We congratulate the festival organisers on receiving joint funding and look forward to the city again being enlivened in our summer months, and promote our city as an attractive cultural destination.” Minister Burch said.

“The You Are Here festival aims to promote our young and emerging artists and highlights the creativity and vibrancy of our city.”

You Are Here will receive $60,000 from the ACT Arts Fund and $25,000 from the ACT Event Fund in support of the 2014 event.

The festival’s curated program is generated by a team of independent producers who actively invigorate Civic with the arts, which generates a strong live audience and an interactive social media exchange that extends across Australia and attracts considerable international interest.

“It’s pleasing that two areas of the ACT Government have recognised the importance of the You Are Here festival in the ACT, and have joined together to ensure its ongoing legacy past the Centenary Year.” Minister Burch said.

The 2014 You Are Here festival program will be released late January and ongoing updates can be found on their website: youareherecanberra.com.au
