Kaleidoscopic taste of dance

ON Sunday Belconnen Arts Centre will present a program of performances and “mini-tasters” by several dancers studios and other local dance organisations, giving the public an opportunity to see the exceptional dance practice in the region.

Guest Artist will be Fusako Skelton, who after initial training in Japan studied at The Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. She then became a soloist with K-Ballet in Japan and Principal Dancer with Vienna Festival Ballet in England. She is now a regular ballet teacher and master class presenter in Australia and Japan.

Other performances on the day will be provided by Bollywood Dimensions Studio, ballet with Canberra Dance Development Centre, Hilal Egyptian Dance, Nia Dance, the Growing Old Disgracefully Seniors (the ‘GOLDS’) from Canberra Dance Theatre and The Monaro Folk Society Bush Dancers Display Group.

Hilal Dance Australia presents contemporary Egyptian dance developed by the internationally renowned Egyptian artist Suraya Hilal. Nia is a movement practice that leads to health, wellness and sustainable fitness, and includes a variety of movement forms.

CDT GOLD dancers have just completed a sell-out season of ‘Life is a Work of Art’ at the National Gallery of Australia, and will be presenting a work created by indigenous dancer Tammy Gissell.

Dance Kaleidoscope 2013, in Belconnen Arts Centre foyer, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen, 3-5pm, Sunday, August 25, entry by gold coin donation, no bookings needed.
