THE road to Corin Forest recreation area will be closed for the next few weeks at least after yesterday’s heavy rain caused a landslide on Corin Road.
As well as the Corin Forest recreation area, the landslide near Woods Reserve has cut off areas within Namadgi National Park including Smokers Trail carpark, Square Rock walking track, Stockyard Spur walking track and facilities within the Corin Dam recreation area.
Ken Marshall, Acting Director, Roads ACT said today that a preliminary assessment of the road by an engineering firm has identified “significant safety concerns which require remediation works to be undertaken”.
“Further, more detailed assessments will take place over the coming days,” Mr Marshall said.
No cars were damaged by the landslide.
Oaks Estate Bridge, Angle Crossing, Sunshine Crossing and Point Hut Crossing are all still closed, while Coppins and Uriarra Crossings have both reopened.
