IT may be Bastille Day, but this Sunday Limestone Consort has a sumptuous concert comprising mostly Vivaldi works.
Mezzo soprano Maartje Sevenster joins the consort to present “Nisi Dominus”; Vivaldi’s setting in 9 movements of Psalm 127.
The work also features the rare 7-stringed Viola d’amore, played by Ross Mitchell, a member of the Elysium Ensemble. In addition, third year classical voice student and a member of Gondwana Chorale, Veronica Milroy, will sing Vivaldi’s motet “Nulla in mundo pax sincera”, made famous in the 1996 movie about David Helfgott, “Shine.” Other works include string sonatas and concerti by Albinoni and Vivaldi.
chamber organist Peter Hagan, who has performed in Europe, USA, Canada and throughout Australia and is currently based in Victoria, will join the consort for this concert, which is led by violinist Lauren Davis.
Limestone Consort presents ‘Vivaldi’s Venice’ at All Saints Church, Ainslie, 3pm Sunday July 14. $15/$10/under 16 free, tickets at the door or bookings to www.trybooking.com/DBDJ
