A 20-year-old Gordon man has been arrested after attempting to flee police when caught performing burnouts and drink driving.
Police were alerted to a disturbance in Derrington Crescent about 9.30pm on Sunday, where a car was reportedly performing burnouts.
About 45 minutes later, patrolling officers saw a car matching the same description and attempted to pull the car over, but it fled.
Police activated their lights and sirens and pursued the car, but lost sight of it along Sternberg Crescent.
As they continued along the street they saw the vehicle had left the road and was parked on the grass nature strip south of Sternberg Crescent near Erindale Drive.
The occupants got out of the car and started running towards the rear yard of the nearest house.
Police pursued the offenders on foot and arrested the driver.
The driver was taken to Tuggeranong Police Station where he was required to undergo breath analysis. He returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.174.
The vehicle has been seized by police. The man will be summonsed to face court on a date yet be fixed.
