POLICE are searching for witnesses to a violent brawl in Civic on Saturday night where a man was repeatedly stomped on and rendered unconscious for 20 minutes.
The fight, involving three males, took place around 11.00pm at the corner of Alinga Street and Northbourne Avenue.
ACT Policing’s City Beats and City Patrol responded within minutes, arresting two males. The injured man was transported to The Canberra Hospital for medical treatment. He was later discharged with no serious injuries.
While a portion of the incident was captured on CCTV, Superintendent Brett Kidner said police were seeking witnesses to assist police in their investigation.
“Civic is a very populated area at 11.00pm on a Saturday night and we believe that there could be several people who saw this altercation,” Superintendent Kidner said.
“ACT Policing relies on information from the public; if you saw something it’s important to report it to police. We are particularly seeking people who may have more information on the events leading up to this incident.”
