New 30m bus station for Gungahlin

GUNGAHLIN bus stops will soon be replaced by a 30m long station as part of a $3.325 m government project to upgrade public transport facilities.

The infrastructure will ultimately form part of the Capital Metro light rail project.

The existing Hibberson Street bus stops will be replaced with a major, 30m long station.

? Shane Rattenbury says the new bus station can accommodate three buses at once, and is long enough for two light rail carriages in the future.

“We intend to integrate planned development on the adjacent car park area to create a public transport hub linked to the commercial activities in the town centre.”

Other improvements in the project include two new bus stops on Hibberson Street near Hinder Street, a new bus stop on each side of both Anthony Rolfe Avenue west of Gribble Street and two new bus layovers (Kate Grace Street and Anthony Rolfe Avenue) which will include driver facilities and parking bays.
