IT’S time for the fifth College Express exhibition and this year one student from Year 11 or 12 will be chosen to receive the inaugural $400 Ray White Belconnen Art Prize, a new award in recognition of young talent.
Ray White Belconnen will also be launching a $100 People’s Choice Award for one lucky student. Talented young artists from colleges in the north Canberra region have explored the world around them through photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, textiles and design technology.
We’re giving you a sneak preview of just three of the entries.
Director of Ray White Belconnen, Sam Faulks, says, “The creation of this award allows us to further our community involvement through our partnership with Belconnen Arts Centre and is close to our directors’ hearts as the three of us attended two of the participating schools.”
Daramalan, Dickson, Gungahlin, Hawker, Radford, St Francis Xavier Colleges, Burgmann Anglican School, Melba-Copland Secondary School – Copland College and UC Secondary College Lake Ginninderra have participated.
The exhibition is presented throughout all the exhibition spaces in Belconnen Arts Centre. The Ray White Belconnen Art Prize will be awarded at the exhibition opening this Friday, December 13 at 5:30pm and the People’s Choice award can be voted for throughout the exhibition.
College Express exhibition, at Belconnen Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen, 10am – 4pm Tuesday – Sunday December 13 to January 26.
