THEY’RE  just about  Canberra’s most popular classical performers – and they’re appearing tomorrow.

Louise Page, soprano, and Phillipa Candy, piano, will perform some of their favourite songs and arias by Michael Head, Purcell, Verdi, Puccini, Gershwin and others at the Wesley Music Centre’s  Wednesday Lunchtime Live series.

Page is one of Australia’s most respected singers, performing in opera, operetta, oratorio, cabaret, recital and broadcasts. She won the inaugural Mietta’s Song Recital Competition and the ABC Young Performer of the Year vocal final. She has performed throughout Europe and Australia, including performances in the Vienna State Opera. She appears regularly with many music groups and orchestras in Canberra and interstate.

Candy studied at the Canberra School of Music She was a State final winner in the ABC Vocal and Instrumental Competition in 1982. Since 1984 she has worked as a professional accompanist, repetiteur and private teacher. In 1992 she was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda Society for musical excellence and studied in London with the celebrated accompanist Geoffrey Parsons.
