Residents evacuated after Gungahlin bomb scare

POLICE evacuated almost 50 people from their homes last night after finding a suspicious package in a Ngunnawal home.

Police General Duties members cordoned the area and the Specialist Response Group Bomb Response Team attended.

As a precaution residents in the area were notified and told to evacuate while the SRG Bomb Response Team rendered the package safe at around 5.15am.

The residents who were evacuated have been allowed to return home.

ACT Policing thanked residents for their co-operation and understanding. Investigations are ongoing.
