THE select tender process for the construction of a Gungahlin cinema opened on Friday.
The block opposite Australia Post at the Gungahlin shopping centre has been identified as the site for the cinema, which will include at least five screens.
Minister for Community Services Andrew Barr says the market was tested for potential cinema operators in late 2012.
“A very good level of response with high quality proposals was achieved,” Mr Barr says.
It is anticipated that the Government will announce the preferred tenderer in June 2013, with construction dates after that to be confirmed.
