The former James Brown impersonator, who became an international success at the age of 62, will perform a free concert at the National Portrait Gallery on Saturday March 1.

Enlighten 2014, which runs from February 28 to March 8, will also see hundreds of diners, dressed in white, converge once again on one of the capital’s iconic locations for a pop-up picnic, as part of the second annual Le Dîner en Blanc on Saturday March 8.

The popular picnic event attracted hundreds of diners last year.

Cultural institutions across Canberra will also open their doors after dark as the Parliamentary Triangle is transformed into a hub of activity, featuring free entertainment such as street artists and musical performances.

“Canberra is open late during Enlighten 2013, so I encourage the Canberra community to catch a glimpse of our world-class attractions, soak up the festival atmosphere and invite interstate friends and family to experience this amazing event,” says Minister for Tourism and Events Andrew Barr.

“As we celebrate the birth of Brand Canberra, Enlighten is the perfect place to explore the capital’s brilliant possibilities.”

A full program of events will be released alongside ticket sales on January 15. For more information visit enlightencanberra.com
