THE WINNERS of the 2013 International Tenants Day Art Competition were announced this evening by ACT Minister for Housing Shane Rattenbury at a celebration in the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre.
First prize, it was announced, went to Maria Sankey for her acrylic painting on canvas, “Building This City.”
Second prize was awarded by the judge to Yan Qing Gu for her felt work, “Wool,” while third prize went to Tess Rey-Cook for “Tribute to our National Capital – Centenary Celebrations 1913-2013.”
The 2013 People Choice award was shared between two entries, Eeva Kukkonen’s “We Built This City” and Tie Carlsford’s “Bush Capital Garden (An Imaginative Rendition)”.
The Art Competition and Exhibition is held each year by Tenants’ Union ACT to celebrate International Tenants’ Day and this year, for the ACT Centenary, the theme is “Tenants Made This City!”
