Time for our artistic young ones

IT’S National Youth Week until April 14, and “The Young Ones,” an exhibition featuring the work of emerging Canberra artists and photographers, opened last night.

The brainchild of “Us Folk,” an independent magazine, sharing the stories and creative talents of young people in Canberra, it’s been sponsored by National Youth Week, ACT Government, Beyond Blue, and Youth Coalition of the ACT and focus on Canberra artists aged 25 and under, who express themselves in drawings, paintings, collage, digital art, mixed media, sculpture, and photography.

It’s well worth a look.

The exhibitors are, illustrator and comics artist, Wen Huang (SpAe), graphic designer and illustrator Larissa Cook, self-proclaimed “lowbrow” artist Chelsea Agno (Mister Manok), pencil artist Jarrah Domaschenz, drawing artist Tessa Mues, paper-cutting artist Alex Lundy, writer and visual artist Sarah McCauley, “urban-inspired artist” Dranoel, fashion photographer Jack Greyson, graphic designer Peta Heffernan, painter Ian Dudley, circus and drawing artist Jake Silvestro and photographers Tabitha Mann, Rebecca Worth, Daniele Martinie, Rohan Thomson, Elanna Woods and Jenny Whatman.

The exhibition celebrates the high level of skill and creativity of the young people in the ACT.

“The Young Ones”, at The Front Gallery and Cafe in Wattle St Lyneham until April 14.
