“THE Magical Christmas Box” is the latest in Pied Piper Productions’ theatrical offerings for the young.
With book, music and lyrics by Craig Hawes, it’s directed by Nina Stevenson and musical director John Yoon, the duo that directed “Annie Get your Gun” for Queanbeyan Players recently.
Briefly, the setting is Christmas Eve. Jenny and Jake ask Grandpa what Christmas is all about. He gives them a magical box, and through it the children go on a magical adventure. In keeping with the season, Jenny and Jake discover the true meaning of Christmas. It’s billed as a short musical with catchy songs and colourful costumes to bring the story to life.
Pied Piper’s mission is to introduce young people to music theatre. With a cast aged 6 to 14 years, the production is suitable for preschoolers and primary school children. The performance time is approximately 35 minutes followed by short question time.
“The Magical Christmas Box” at St Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, Manuka, public performances, 10am, Wednesday and Thursday Nov 27-8 and 6pm Friday and Saturday Nov 29-30. All tickets $5 at the door.
