Vegas comes to London Circuit

WHEN you think of the restaurant  Waldorf on London,  attached to the Waldorf Hotel in Civic, chances are you’ll be thinking of a fine lunch.

But this year, management at  the hotel are charging up the restaurant’s format with a Saturday night dinner and show each month (that may increase to once a week) which looks set to transform the Waldorf into a glamorous centre of entertainment by night.

According to conference manager, Paul  Hunt, the idea is to bring in variety performers from both Canberra and interstate to perform while guests enjoy a three-course meal or a bar snack with a drink.

In Hunt’s  view, this is something that Canberra badly needs for weekend entertainment. It happens all the time in Sydney and Melbourne as well as overseas, so why not in the nation’s capital?

The first entertainment, coming up on March 16, will be a Vegas-style burlesque show with the Rogue Dolls dancing. The performance will be complemented by live music from Canberra icons, Vince Gelonese and Band, inspired by  the movies “Burlesque” and  “Moulin Rouge,” as well as  and the classics of jazz, swing, and cabaret.

The show will begin at about 8pm and 7.30pm arrival for There are three levels of ticketing and VIP ticket holders will be treated to a glass of sparkling and canapés on arrival. The performance will run until about 10pm.

“Vegas Nights,” at the Waldorf, 2 Akuna Street, Civic,7.30pm  to 8pm, March 16, bookings to vegas@waldorfonlondon.com.au  or 6229 0141.
