Year in review: October
A YOUNG Floriade fan soaks up the sun at the annual flower festival. With mostly fine weather, this year’s festival saw record crowds pass through the turnstiles.
CANBERRA wasn’t quite free from the cold yet, with snow appearing around the Canberra region in October. The capital recorded its coldest day since 1968 on October 11.
THE 55-year-old, heritage-listed Starlight Drive-In sign in Watson didn’t last the year and tipped from its rusted plinth in October, crashing through an adjacent fence. Luckily, Chief Minister Katy Gallagher stepped in and the sign is now on its way to being repaired.
