OVER 300 new educators who will be joining the ACT public school system this year were today welcomed by the ACT Government.
The 378 teachers include recent graduates (110), teachers who have moved from interstate (7) and overseas (3) to work in the ACT. The cohort also includes specialist teachers in science, maths and English.
“The quality, drive and enthusiasm of the new educators will be demonstrated in public school classrooms across the ACT, with our students to reap the benefits,” ACT Education Minister Joy Burch said.
“I am sure the educators will also enjoy working in an education system and jurisdiction underpinned by innovation, excellence and high achievement.”
Ms Burch said the educators would be supported in their careers in the ACT through dedicated support programs for first year teachers, recognition and rewards for outstanding classroom performance, promotion opportunities for high achieving and talented teachers and attraction in school leadership positions.
The new educators will be officially welcomed at a formal ceremony on 28 January 2014 at the Hyatt Hotel.
