82 year old man beaten up in Pearce

ACT Policing is investigating an attack on an elderly man in Pearce last night (22 September).

About 10.30pm, an 82-year-old man heard noises outside his home on Pethebridge Street, Pearce and went to investigate.

An altercation took place with a 21-year old man and as a result, the elderly man sustained serious head and facial injuries and was admitted to The Canberra Hospital where he will undergo surgery.

The offender is described as having an average build, 5’10” (178cm) tall, wearing grey tracksuit pants.

A 21-year-old Torrens man is assisting police with their investigation, which is ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.gov.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
