ANDREW Barr and the Director of the Australian War Memorial, Brendan Nelson, have announced a partnership that will see the commemoration of the Centenary of Anzac and the First World War promoted interstate.

$300,000 from the ACT Government’s VisitCanberra Special Event fund, will be invested in marketing the Australian War Memorials’ commemoration events throughout 2015. The War Memorial will match the funding by the ACT Government to promote to interstate audiences major events, performances and exhibitions including:

  • Anzac Day, marking the centenary of the Gallipoli landing
  • Remembrance Day
  • The newly opened First World War Galleries
  • The Roll of Honour Soundscape project and name projections
  • Daily Last Post Ceremonies

“The additional funding will be used to enhance the Australian War Memorials overall marketing strategy, in the hope of attracting more visitors to Canberra and the Memorial” Brendan said.

“This support from the ACT Government will allow us to vigorously promote the TripAdvisor rating and Canberra in attracting visitors to the region. Here they will learn more about Australia’s history and who we are through the commemoration of the First World War Centenary. Every nation has its story. This is ours.”
