Armed robbery in Lyons by a very short man

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an armed robbery at the Lyons Friendly Grocer in Lyons last night (Tuesday, July 1).

Around 7.40pm, a man entered the supermarket and threatened a staff member with a knife, demanding cash.

The employee complied and the man then opened the cigarettes cupboard and took several packets of cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

The offender is described as 5’3” (160cm) tall with a slim build. He was wearing dark coloured shoes, dark coloured pants, a dark coloured hooded jumper with a zip up front, a black scarf around his face and a red baseball style cap which was under his hooded jumper.

He was last seen turning left out of the store and heading towards Deloraine Street on foot.

AFP Forensics attended the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
