“One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”… Nurse Ratched (barb barnett) and and McMurphy (Ben Drysdale).
REMEMBER the terrifying Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”? She’s the nemesis of inmate Randle Patrick McMurphy in the stage adaptation of Ken Kesey’s novel being staged by The Acting Company and Shadowhouse Pits at the Courtyard Studio, March 18-29. Who is sane? Who is insane? You’ll have to be there to find out. Bookings to 6275 2700 or canberratheatrecentre.com.au

“LUMEN” is an exhibition of new video, multimedia installation and works on aluminium by local arts identity, Alexander Boynes. He’s canned collaborating with the Perth Praxis collective – his sister, dancer Laura Boynes and cellist Tristan Parr – to create a “virtual” performance, with dancers moving “like low-tech holograms” around a rice-covered floor. It opens 6pm March 19 and runs to April 6 at ANCA Gallery, 1 Rosevear Place, Dickson.

WE hear Canberra media artist Tracey Benson will be the only representative from the ACT at the Waterwheel “World Water Day Symposium” from March 17-22 where she will present her latest project, “Words for Water”, which combines photography, video and augmented media.

HOW to use Australian plants in the art of bonsai will be the focus of the big annual bonsai exhibition at the Australian National Botanic Gardens’ Crosbie Morrison Building, 9.30am-4.30pm, on March 15-16.

GO-getting guitarist Matt Withers returns to the Wesley Music Centre’s Lunchtime Live Series, 12.40pm-1.20pm, on Wednesday, March 19 with all-Aussie works for classical guitar. No bookings, paper note or gold coin entry.

THIS month’s annual visit of the Mortimore Prize, Australia’s leading art event for Realism, has been cancelled because construction works are blocking access to the Canberra Grammar School Gallery, making delivery of the art and public attendance “unviable”.

ARTISTS keen to exhibit at the lively M16 Artspace next year have only until March 31 to submit expressions of interest. M16 has three professional open access galleries, ideal for most artistic media, and the gallery hire includes, amazingly, invitations, administrative support, gallery-minding, listings on the exhibition page on the M16 website, media and lighting. Inquiries to 62959438 or office@m16artspace.com
