Brace yourselves, next year’s audits announced

THE ACT Auditor-General has announced her planned programme of audits.

These audits are still in progress:

  • Capital works reporting (Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate and selected directorates): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services and programs
  • Management of debtors (Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate, Commerce and Works Directorate and other selected directorates): Area of focus: minimising waste in government
  • Alexander Maconochie Centre: rehabilitation of male detainees (Justice and Community Safety Directorate): Areas of focus: improving services and programs / assisting the disadvantaged and vulnerable
  • Water Infrastructure Projects (ACTEW) (ACTEW Corporation): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services
    and programs

Audits to run in 2014-15 are:

  • Workers’ compensation: harm minimisation and case management (Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate, selected directorates and other ACT public sector entities): Area of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services
    and programs

  • Apprenticeships (Canberra Institute of Technology and the Education and Training Directorate): Areas of focus: improving services and programs / developing the next generation
  • University of Canberra borrowing arrangements with the ACT Government (University of Canberra and Chief Minister and Treasury Directorate): Areas of focus: greatest benefit for the whole community / advancing / minimising waste in government
  • The Lower Cotter Catchment Area (Territory and Municipal Services Directorate, Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate and ACTEW Corporation): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government / greatest benefit for the whole community / advancing sustainable practices
  • Public transport planning and management (Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate, Territory and Municipal Services Directorate): Area of focus: greatest benefit for the whole community / improving services and programs
  • Government business development and industry assistance programs (Economic Development Directorate): Area of focus: improving services and programs
  • ACT Government shared services arrangements (Commerce and Works Directorate and selected directorates): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services and programs
  • Maintenance of public housing (ACT Housing and Community Services Directorate): Areas of focus: assisting the disadvantaged and vulnerable / minimising waste in government / improving services and programs

Finally audits planned for 2015–16 and beyond are:

  • Implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Community Services Directorate): Areas of focus: assisting the disadvantaged and vulnerable /
    improving services and programs / minimising waste in government / developing the next generation – all children get a ‘fair’ go

  • Arts, Cultural and Heritage facilities (Cultural Facilities Corporation, Community Services Directorate, Territory and Municipal Services Directorate and other directorates): Area of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services and programs / greatest benefit for the whole community
  • Capital Metro light rail (Capital Metro Agency and selected): Areas of focus: greatest benefit for the whole community / minimising waste in government / advancing sustainable practices / improving services and programs
  • Statutory office holders (Relevant statutory office holders and selected directorates): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government
  • Chronic disease management (Health Directorate): Areas of focus: assisting the disadvantaged and vulnerable / improving services and programs
  • Direct land sales (Economic Development Directorate and Land Development Agency): Areas of focus: greatest benefit for the whole community / improving services and programs
  • ACTION (Territory and Municipal Services Directorate): Areas of focus: minimising waste in government / improving services and programs
  • Contaminated sites (Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate and Environment Protection Agency): Area of focus: advancing sustainable practices / improving services and programs
  • ACT Property Group (Territory and Municipal Services Directorate and selected directorates): Area of focus: minimising waste in Government
  • Implementation of Auditor-General audit recommendations (Selected directorates): Area of focus: improving services and programs
  • Climate change programs (Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate and selected directorates): Areas of focus: advancing sustainable practices / improving services and programs
  • Pest animals and invasive weeds (Territory and Municipal Services Directorate and Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate): Areas of focus: greatest benefit for the whole community / advancing sustainable practices
