How to Build a Mutant Bike at Questacon

rat patrol

CANBERRA’S mutant bike population is set to explode after local crazy-bicycle enthusiasts Rat Patrol OZ host a freak bike construction presentation at the Questacon Technology Learning Centre tomorrow night at 6pm.

The presentation will cover construction basics for three freak bike designs – the chopper, the tall bike and the cargo bike. The presenters will answer such questions as ‘how do you get off?’ and will recall humorous anecdotes such as what happens when you bicycle down Lonsdale Street at the height of the Summernats Car Festival waving environmental flags.

The presentation will culminate with the screening of highlights from last year’s Rat Olympics using audience participants to fire up a pedal-powered cinema.

Aspiring members of the Rat Patrol are encouraged to come along, see a range of silly bikes and have a ride in the carpark afterwards.

The Questacon Technology and Learning Centre is next to the Mint in Deakin and admission is free. RSVP to qtlc.info@questacon.edu.au.
