Calling art writers and critics

ANCA —Australian National Capital Artists Inc. — is offering new opportunities to visual art writers and critics, both emerging and established.

First up is a three-month one day a week equivalent paid residency for an emerging writer as ANCA’s first ever Critic in Residence.

Next, ANCA says it wants to “engage criticism in the ACT region” though its inaugural ANCA Annual Writing Prizes, to be awarded at the end of the year in three categories: a critical review (published or unpublished) of an exhibition held at ANCA Gallery in 2015; a catalogue essay written for an ANCA Gallery exhibition in 2015 or an exhibition held in 2015 which features an ANCA Studio Artist; and an essay (published or unpublished) written on a theme of relevance to contemporary art by a writer resident in the Canberra region in 2015.

More details about these prizes will be announced in February, submissions will be open from February through to November 2015, but the Critic in Residence applications close on the January 28.
