IT’S that time of the year when talented and aspiring young musicians are invited to apply for the 2015 programs offered by the Australian Youth Orchestra.

The AYO is one of the world’s most innovative orchestral training organisations for gifted pre-professional musicians, so if you are one of those you have until June 13 to apply.

it is no exaggeration to say that the majority of professional musicians coming from Australia are AYO alumni.

If you get in, it will mean the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s and the world’s most celebrated conductors and finest music directors, soloists, musicians and industry professionals.

CEO, Colin Cornish says, “The AYO has been inspiring Australia’s young musicians for more than 65 years to become tomorrow’s greats. Last year alone we received more than 1,100 applications for our programs. Joining the AYO is truly a life changing experience.”

Auditions will be held in August and September and are scheduled for every Australian capital city, as well as regional centres including Armidale, Townsville and Orange.

To be eligible to apply for the AYO’s programs – Australian Youth Orchestra, AYO National Music Camp, AYO Young Symphonists, AYO Chamber Players, AYO Regional Residencies and AYO Orchestral Career Development – musicians must be between 12 and 30 years of age.
