The big highlights are the  $57,000 Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Operatic Aria and the $36,000 Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Ballet Scholarships, followed by the equally exciting   Sydney Eisteddfod Opera & Arts Vocal Scholarship, the Sydney Eisteddfod Allison/Henderson Piano Scholarship, the Sydney Eisteddfod NSW Drs Orchestra Instrumental Scholarship, the Sydney Eisteddfod Musica Viva Chamber Music Award and The John Lamble Foundation Australasian Choral Championships for Open, Youth and Primary/Infants School choirs.

Many fine Canberra performers have received their firs accolades through the Eisteddfod and indeed last year Canberra classical guitarist Campbell Diamond who won the  Instrumental Duo with our own Callum Henshaw,  played his way into the final round of the NSW Doctors Orchestra Instrumental Scholarship.

The  92-page Eisteddfod syllabus includes almost 400  classical and contemporary events for aspiring singers, dancers, musicians, composers, choirs, bands and orchestras.

2014 McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod, May 31 to  mid-September.  Entries close on March 13. The complete Syllabus can be viewed on the Sydney Eisteddfod website. Entries can be lodged online sydneyeisteddfod.com.au
