Calls for help as storm leaves trail of damage

The ACT Emergency Services Agency received at least 200 calls for help following heavy storms this afternoon.

A spokesperson says most calls were from Tuggeranong, Weston Creek and Woden Valley.

The majority have been for flooding in houses and garages, while there have also been several calls for trees across roads and leaking roofs.

The Canberra Hospital has also had reported flooding, as ACT Health investigates what, if any, services may have been impacted.

Motorists have been advised to drive to the conditions and to be aware of fast flowing water on roads.

Parents are urged to know where their children are and keep them away from all outdoor water sources.

Residents requiring assistance should call the ACTSES on 132-500.
