Canberra’s Carol Mills sparks furore in London

Carol Mills

THE Daily Mail has breathless coverage of a red hot row running in London over the Speaker of the House of Commons seeking to appoint Canberra’s Carol Mills, currently the currently head of the Department of Parliamentary Services, as Clerk of the Commons.

Kicking the affair into full crisis is an email from our own Clerk of the Senate Rosemary Laing to the outgoing Commons Clerk, Sir Robert Rogers, throwing an absolute bucket on Carol. The email has now been published in full by The Guardian.

Rarely has the workings of Canberra’s house on the hill attracted such interest in Westminster.

Why is the australian media ignoring the issues reported in Estimates that implicate Ms Mills in some questionable management practices?
