Canberra’s Ice Dragons win the Australian Dragon Boat Championships

ice dragons

AFTER a disappointing 2012-13 season, the Ice Dragons Paddle Club competed at the 2014 Australian Dragon Boat Championships at Lake Kawana on the Sunshine Coast over Easter weekend and brought home Gold!

With over 3000 paddlers from 346 crews across both Australia and New Zealand, the Ice Dragons were awarded the Trevor Huggard Trophy representing the Australian Club Championship Title for the open age divisions in what was the largest Australian and Oceania Championship event yet.

This was the second time that the Club brought home this trophy, the first being in 2011 when this National Title event was hosted in Canberra. The Ice Dragons are only the second team in Australian dragon boat history to win this trophy more than once.

If dragon boating sounds like something you’d like to be involved in the Ice Dragons are recruiting.
