KATY Gallagher has officially opened the new refurbished CONTACT Canberra Community Information, formerly known as the Citizens Advice Bureau ACT.

“Grass-roots organisations like CONTACT Canberra are vital in making Canberra a city that is easy to navigate and know what services are available to people on a wide range of issues,” said Katy, while re-naming an organisation that was previously well known and understood.

CONTACT Canberra has adopted its new trading name to link all of its services with the renamed CONTACT Directory of community services.

The Citizens Advice Bureau had helped over 7000 people every year.

“I encourage people who are finding it difficult to navigate the community services sector to pay a visit to the CONTACT Canberra shopfront,” the Chief Minister said.

“The Canberra Citizens Advice Bureau has a proud 35 year history and I am confident that the new and revitalised CONTACT Canberra office will have many more years of service to the community to come.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers that help to make this vital service a success and acknowledge their hard work.”

CONTACT Canberra will complete the roll-out of the new name with the release of the online community portal CONTACT online later in 2014.

They can be found on the ground flood exterior of the Griffin Centre on Genge Street in Civic.
