THE inaugural Queanbeyan River Festival will be held on the banks of the Queanbeyan River in less than two weeks.

Event Coordinator, Emma Hawke, says she is thrilled with how much support and interest is coming from the community, local organisations and businesses.

“The Queanbeyan River Festival is a great opportunity for our community to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful river that is such an important feature of Queanbeyan’s landscape,” Emma said.

Some of the exciting activities on offer at the River Festival include:

  • water balls on the river
  • kayaks and stand up paddles
  • lantern making workshops
  • children’s picnic games
  • stage shows
  • live music
  • fishing workshops
  • and lots more free activities for the whole community to enjoy.

“We are especially pleased to partner in this event with the ACT Eden-Monaro Cancer Support Group which is coordinating the build your own raft races. The races will kick off at 12 noon, so be sure to come and come and cheer on your favourite boat,” Ms Hawke said.

“Bring a picnic lunch or buy from the variety of food that will be sold at the event. There will also be market stalls for you to wander around and pick up something special.

“The event will also feature the Clearwater Sculpture Prize where you will see the works of many artists who will exhibit their works throughout the water and grassy landscapes of the festival area.
