‘Cultural delights’ to help literacy in PNG

IN an unusual cultural gesture, the Italian ambassador’s residence will be thrown open this Saturday, October 11, for a sophisticated fundraiser supporting the not-for-profit Port Moresby organisation, Buk Bilong Pikini, which promotes literacy in Papua New Guinea.

The Italian Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo and Mrs Svetlana Sharapa will be hosting an evening of “Italian Cultural Delights” at the Residence in Deakin.

But you’ll need to hurry, registrations close this Thursday, October 9.

Naturally, given the Italian setting, the evening will feature popular arias from Verdi, Rossini & Puccini among others, presented by top Canberra-related singers, soprano Karen Fitz-Gibbon, mezzosoprano Christina Wilson, tenor Christopher Lincoln Bogg with Alan Hicks at the piano.

“I’m really looking forward to this presentation within the lovely space designed by Enrico Taglietti,” the Ambassador says.
