Deloitte Australia has announced the takeover of Analytics Group, a consultancy offering advisory services and operational support to the CFO level in government departments and agencies. Two partners and 19 staff will join Deloitte’s Consulting practice in Canberra, boosting its core accounting and finance expertise.

Andrew Johnstone-Burt, National Public Sector Leader said, “With so much change being forecast across government, it will be critical to ensure there are strong leaders in place to manage productivity improvements and cost reduction. Government agencies will need to invest in the right people to facilitate this.

“Our transaction will significantly increase the scale of the Canberra office whilst providing the opportunity to gain a stronger Federal Government presence primarily at the CFO level,” added Mr Johnstone-Burt.

“Across Federal and State Governments we are now seeing a strong drive to improve efficiencies through performance improvements and cost efficiencies,” said Lynne Pezzullo, Deloitte Canberra Office Managing Partner. “This team hire is part of the growth of our Canberra strategy and business transformation capability and will further boost the 10 partners we have added to our Canberra practice over the last year. We now have 24 partners and 163 people across our Barton and Brindabella offices.”

The services Analytics Group brings to Deloitte Consulting include:

  • Financial Management and advisory services including project accounting and asset management
  • Planning, budgeting and forecasting for large departments and smaller agencies
  • Operations consulting in procurement costing, contract management and cost reduction
  • Business Case development and funding submissions
  • Technology design and implementation in business intelligence and finance systems.

Tim Nugent, National Lead Partner for Finance and Performance Management in Consulting added “the combination of Analytics group and Deloitte enhances our services for public sector clients as they look to drive performance management and productivity improvements, and elevate the role of the CFO in the strategic decision making process.”

Analytics Group partners Scott Alexander and Brett Streatfeild, who will become Deloitte partners, noted that joining with Deloitte will provide their team with the opportunities to grow the business by expanding the services they can offer their clients.

“We are excited to bring the intellectual property and experience of Deloitte’s local and global business to our Government clients. Our people will also be able to access the benefits of being part of the global Deloitte network, the innovative brand and their culture with increased opportunities for career development,” said Mr Alexander.
