The National Parks Association is offering people who use a wheelchair an opportunity to try out the Trailrider, a new type of all terrain wheelchair buggy.
On Saturday April 19 they are offering treks along Namadgi’s 1km Woodlands Trail.
The trail comprises packed gravel with moderate incline for 50% of its length and wanders past a small lake and through open shrub and eucalyptus forest.
The trail is accessible with assistance for those who can bring their own all-terrain wheelchairs. Motorised chairs are not suitable.
A morning session starting hourly at 9.00am and an afternoon one at 1.00 pm have been organised. Volunteers, with knowledge of the fauna and flora, will be available to take participants around on the Trailrider, but it is suggested they come with a support team of two.
Namadgi Visitor Centre is accessible and has a pleasant balcony which overlooks the trail.
Numbers are limited and bookings are essential so that they know about your participation requirements.
