DISNEY’S “Fantasia 2000” is the focal point of this year’s free Symphony in the Park concert at the weekend.
Projected on a gigantic screen, “Fantasia 2000” will be shown in full HD digital to a live orchestral underscore under the baton of Tom Woods.
The occasion will feature the great ballet of hippos, elephants, ostriches and alligators in Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours”, whales swimming to Respighi’s “Pines of Rome” and the magic of Mickey Mouse accompanied by Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”.
Walt Disney once said: “Fantasia is a whole new opportunity. For my medium it opens up unlimited possibilities”.
More than 15,000 people attended Symphony in the Park in 2012 and, weather permitting, Events ACT are inviting everyone to bring a picnic and rug and enjoy this free Canberra Day concert.
Symphony in the Park, CSO, “Fantasia 2000”, 5 pm, Stage 88 Commonwealth Park, Sunday, March 9.
