Evatt garage burns down

A garage at a home in Evatt has suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out.

ACT Fire & Rescue were called to Keenan Street after receiving multiple Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls from 1:07am.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and have since determined it accidental.

A battery charger had been stored on top of a larger battery which generated heat.

The contents of the residential garage were extensively damaged, which included a boat and motorcycle.

The damage bill is estimated at $80,000.

Three pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van and a commander attended the scene.
