TUGGERANONG Arts Centre has two dramatically different new exhibitions opening this evening.
It shows ordinary people, just like any of us, and indicates why they have been forced to leave their homes. Not surprisingly, Amnesty International sees these stories as “a powerful tool in educating the public about the refugee debate in Australia”.
By contrast, in “Smaller Details of Suburbia” presents in a joint exhibition the work of local artists, Steve Roper and Paul Summerfield. The Arts Centre curator, Narelle Phillips, says the original works “will speak to our sense of wonder.”
“Faces of Asylum” and “Smaller Details of Suburbia,” Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 137 Reed Street, Greenway, until February 28, Monday to Friday (9am-5pm).
